Before you compare plans, you need to find out if you are eligible to enroll in a Marketplace plan. If you have insurance through your employer, or are covered by Medicare or Medicaid, you may not be eligible for a Marketplace plan or subsidies. Depending on the time of year, you may need to wait until the next Open Enrollment period to sign up for a plan.
Open Enrollment: During the Open Enrollment period, people eligible for Marketplace plans must sign up or renew their coverage. The current Open Enrollment Period is ongoing and ends January 31, 2017. During this period you can enroll in Marketplace plans available in your area, or renew you current plan. More information on open enrollment is available here.
Special Enrollment: You may be eligible to enroll in a plan if you have had a Qualifying Life Event, such as losing employer-sponsored coverage or moving to another state. You can read more about qualifying health events here.
